Tad Weiss, CFP®, President of Modus Advisors, talks with our own Kari Haanstad to provide a 2021 year-end recap. Kari is our Chief Investment Advisor and resident Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®).
While 2021 was a relatively calm year for the stock market, Kari discusses the performance of US stocks, foreign stocks, and emerging markets.
Next, 2021 was a tough year for bonds, as expected. Listen to get Kari’s insight on interest rates and how the bond market is looking for 2022.
Then, we look at a traditional 60/40 mix, with 60% of a portfolio invested in stocks and 40% invested in bonds. Kari dives into the performance of this mix, how bonds fit in, and alternatives to traditional bonds in this lagging bond market.
MODUS STOCK PORTFOLIOS
Kari manages three stock portfolios for Modus Advisors: Modus Dividend Portfolio, Modus Best Ideas Portfolio, and the Modus ESG Portfolio. Further, Kari discusses the overall performance of these portfolios. Markets can move quickly. What are we looking to for diversification?
Cryptocurrency may have been the hottest topic in financial news in 2021. Kari goes over how Bitcoin and Ethereum, the two largest cryptocurrencies, might fit into clients’ portfolios.
LOOKING FORWARD TO 2022
Lastly, Tad asks Kari to look forward to 2022 to find out what is on her mind as she positions client portfolios for the new year. Kari gives insight into how she will position for a year of rising interest rates and inflation. She talks about how we plan to stay diversified and focus on our clients’ long-term goals to guide how we allocate their overall portfolios.
Note that this 2021 year-end recap is longer than our usual A Minute with Modus videos, but we welcome you to watch and comment below!
